Dr. Basma Faour
Coming from a Lebanese background, Mrs. Faour holds a doctorate degree in primary education from the University of Leicester, UK.
She is a member of EQUAL’s Advisory Board Members (Global TIES for Children is an international research center embedded within New York University) which reviews and advises on research seed grants in the Arab countries.
Dr. Faour has over 20 years of professional experience in university teaching, research, teacher-training and working with children, community outreach and international consulting. She was an associate professor at Haigazian University, Lebanon and served as Chair of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural sciences.
Her research focused on the status of early childhood in the Arab countries. She worked as a consultant on several projects in Arab countries with UNESCO, AUB and NGOs such as developing training manuals on critical thinking in early childhood, creating a community of “practice-Tarbiyeh 21″. She also conducted several training workshops in Lebanon, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. She served as Director of the Centre of Teaching and Learning at Dhofar University, Sultanate of Oman.
She was a consultant for SAT 7 “Madrasaty” Project – a 90-minute program whose content focuses on basic Arabic, English, and math skills for out of school children. She was as an external reviewer for journals and early childhood programs. She also served as an external reviewer for quality assurance for the Early Childhood Education major at Princess Nora University, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Faour has several publications in journals, training manuals for preschool teachers. She created an Arabic preschool educational kit for Makassed Philanthropic Organization, Lebanon ” نزي $ تي ك $ فول $ ط” which won first prize for best children’s production at the Arabic book fair in Beirut, Lebanon in 2010. She has participated and presented in several international and regional conferences.
Arabeez team has the honour to have Dr.Basma on board as a consultant, guiding the teachers and as a team member of the curriculum development. At the same time she enjoys teaching and watching her students improving and enjoying learning the Arabic language thanks to her fun learning methods.
